Rogue Experts: Grammar with Taylor

This week on our IGTV series, we’re meeting with Taylor, our copywriter! (I’m also writing this blog!)

Grammar is super important to me. I’ve read grammar books and taken grammar classes. I critique grammar in books.

You could say I really like grammar.

At Rogue, I write the majority of content and proofread the rest! There’s a good chance my eyes have seen your web content, ads, social media posts and more.

As a writer, I subconsciously review grammar for other writers too. Those mistakes stand out and can even change the meaning of a sentence! While we all make them – autocorrect can be a nightmare – it’s important to know why they can hurt your business.

If you’ve ever explored a comment section on a post, you have probably seen readers call out mistakes.

Don’t give your readers an excuse to mistrust your brand! Silly spelling or punctuation errors can steal your brand’s credibility. You need to be an expert and represent your brand well.

REMEMBER: a bit of casual sentence structure, tone changes, word choice, or wild punctuation might just be part of your brand. Maybe your brand never uses capital letters. Maybe it doesn’t have a problem with sentence fragments. Overall style is up to you. Just be consistent and determine the difference between a mistake and an intentional style choice.

For my IGTV video, I’m reviewing five of the most common mistakes I see and sharing some tips that can help. Give it a watch!
